RIMT University celebrated National Science Day 2024
RIMT University, Mandi Gonbindgarh celebrated National Science Day with the theme, Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat. School of Sciences and School of Engineering & Technology organized different events during these two days. The events under this program were supported and catalyzed by Punjab State Council of Science & Technology (PSCST), National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) and the Department of Science & Technology (DST).
Day one commenced with the online expert talk on “Mission Chandrayaan & Indigenous Technologies” by esteemed scientist Mr. Mahendar Pal Singh, ISRO Bangalore. He presented his talk related to indigenous space technology and the development within India which led to remarkable achievements of Chandrayaan missions, Mangalyaan, satellite launch pad etc. Preceding further, various activities and competitions such as screening of scientific films, hands-on-experiments, science with fun, science exhibitions, and best out of waste and model display were conducted by the faculty of the School of Sciences and School of Engineering.
The inaugural session was graced with the esteemed presence of Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Vijay Aggarwal, Vice-Chancelor, Dr. Bhupinder Singh Brar, Dean Academic, Dr. Jibanananda Mishra, and distinguished individuals in their respective fields. Dr. B.S Bhatia, Pro Vice- Chancellor, RIMT University, in his inaugural address discussed about the indigenous technology which is leading to viksit Bharat. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. R.P Singh, Associate Director, DRI.
On the second day of NSD-2024 celebrations, Dr. Jiban Jyoti Panda, the nano scientist, INST, Mohali delivered an engaging talk on Indigenous advancements in the field of Nanosciences. Dr. Panda’s insightful explanations provided participants with the essential knowledge of indigenous advancements being made in the field of Nanosciences. She discussed about various basic parameters of nanosciences and engaged the audience with interactive session on neural disorders and its treatments. Dr. Panda, further elaborated about various advancements made in nanomedicine. The activities including PPT Presentation, Digital Photography, Science & Quiz, Declamation, Ideathon, Scientific Rangoli, Poster Making etc. were conducted under the guidance of Prof. Bir Bikram Singh, Coordinator-NSD.
More than 300 students from different universities and colleges of Punjab, Haryana, and Tamil Nadu registered and enthusiastically participated in all the activities. The event ended with a valedictory session and the prize distribution ceremony, where the prizes were given to winners. Dr. Sandeep Kaur, convener, NSD 2024 gave the vote of thanks.
