Educational Visit to ICAR – Directorate of Mushroom Research, Solan
School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SAST), RIMT University, organized an educational visit for the students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture to the ICAR–Directorate of Mushroom Research (DMR), Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on 10 September 2026.
The visit was organized to provide students with practical exposure to mushroom cultivation, production technologies, different mushroom varieties, and value-added mushroom products. It offered students an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of modern mushroom production practices and understand their applications in agriculture and entrepreneurship.
A significant highlight of the visit was the 29th National Mushroom Mela, where Dr. H.S. Baweja, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His presence added academic significance to the event and encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship, innovation, and emerging opportunities in mushroom cultivation.
The educational visit served as a valuable platform for students to connect classroom learning with practical applications. It enhanced their understanding of the mushroom industry while inspiring them to consider innovative and sustainable avenues in agriculture.
