The students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and M.Sc. Agriculture, along with faculty members of School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, RIMT University, visited the Kisan Mela organized by Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana on 26.09.2025. The theme of the Kisan mela is “Farming + Innovation + Tradition = One Mega Event”. The visit was aimed at providing students with practical exposure to the latest agricultural technologies, improved crop varieties, and modern farming practices. Students had the opportunity to observe field demonstrations of improved crop varieties, including wheat, paddy, maize, and oilseed crops, as well as horticultural advancements.
A major highlight of the event was the exhibition stalls by PAU scientists, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and private agri-based companies, where the students gained valuable insights into modern farm machinery, seed processing units, plant protection equipment, irrigation technologies and value-addition techniques. Students also interacted with farmers who shared their experiences in adopting advanced technologies for enhancing crop productivity and farm income.
The visit offered a platform for students to learn about government schemes, crop insurance programs, and subsidy provisions for farm mechanization and agri-startups. The faculty members accompanying the students guided them throughout the visit, facilitating discussions with scientists and experts. Overall, the PAU Kisan Mela visit proved to be highly beneficial in bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure. The students expressed their appreciation for the opportunity, noting that the visit motivated them to apply modern practices in their academic projects and future professional endeavors.
