RIMT University Art & Design Department organized an experiential learning workshop for students
On January 25, 2025, the Art and Design Department of RIMT University organized an experiential learning workshop titled “To Understand the Process of Various Hand Printings and Dyeing.” Held at the Fine Arts Lab on the first floor of Academic Block 2, the workshop ran from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and was attended by students and faculty members of the Art and Design Department. The session was led by Mr. Ashwani, the Founder of Brightway Colors, who shared his extensive expertise in various traditional and contemporary hand-printing and dyeing techniques.
The workshop focused on a wide area of techniques, including preparation of screens, screen printing, block printing, neon printing, cold dyeing, hot dyeing, soft dyeing, and Batik dyeing. Participants were introduced to the step-by-step processes involved in each technique, such as preparing the screens and blocks, applying dyes, and transferring prints onto different surfaces. The hands-on approach allowed participants to experiment with tools like screens and brushes, while also exploring artistic designs and patterns. Mr. Ashwani emphasized the importance of understanding the materials, tools, and dyeing methods to achieve precision and creativity in printmaking.
The session began with a welcome address and an introduction of the guest, followed by a comprehensive presentation by Mr. Ashwani. Participants actively engaged in the demonstration of the various techniques and had the opportunity to practice them under his guidance. The event concluded with an interactive discussion and a Q&A session, providing attendees with an opportunity to clarify their doubts and gain deeper insights into the craft.
Promoted through social media platforms and verbal communication within the university, the workshop was sponsored by RIMT University with a budget of Rs. 3000, covering the travel allowance and lunch for the guest. This experiential workshop proved to be a valuable learning experience, equipping participants with practical skills, enhanced creativity, and a deeper appreciation for the art of hand printing and dyeing.
