Admission Procedure

Admission to the programme shall be made on the basis of following:

  • Entrance Test followed by personal interview as per the schedule given in the Notification.
  • A relaxation of 5 % marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/differently-abled category, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories of candidates.

Exemption from Entrance Test

  • Applicants who have qualified UGC (NET/ JRF)/ CSIR (NET/ JRF) examination/ GATE or GPAT score card or passed M.Phil. Programme (in regular mode only), will not be required to appear in the Entrance Test and will be considered for admission on the basis of their Academic Merit followed by Interview as per the admission schedule.

Structure of Entrance Test

  • The entrance test will have two parts. The first part (50%) will have questions on research aptitude and general awareness. The second part (50%) will be related to the concerned subject (based on syllabus of UGC-NET of that subject.
  • All questions will be objective-type carrying one mark each.

Note: 1. Applicants are required to bring the original documents against which exemption is sought at the time of the interview.
2. All documents presented for exemption should be valid at the time of admission.

Paper Format

Part – I Research Methodology and Aptitude (Common for all) : 35 Marks
(35 Objective Type Structured Questions carrying 01 mark each).

Part – II Subject concerned: 35 Marks
(35 Objective Type Structured Questions carrying 01 mark each)

Interview : 30 Marks

Note: Interview will be applicable to all the candidates, those appearing in Entrance Test and also those Exempted from the Entrance Test

Admission Procedure For International Students

  • Foreign Candidates can apply online at the university website www.rimt.ac.in or manual application can be submitted to International Students Cell of RIMT University on or before 24th June, 2024.
  • Foreign nationals are exempted from entrance test and interview. They will be admitted based on their research proposal, subject to fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria. The decision regarding the eligibility criteria rests with the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) with the recommendation of International Students Cell of the University.

Note: 1. The candidates, who have passed the qualifying examinations from any Foreign University will have to submit Equivalence Certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
2. NOC from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the approval of Ministry of External Affairs must be endorsed on the research viva.

Final Selection

  • For final selection 70% weightage will be given to entrance test and 30% to, personal interview. Additional weightage will be given to publications and teaching experience.

    Note: 1. Selection of candidates who are exempted from Entrance test will be on the basis of academic record and personal interview
    2.Those candidates who are studying in the final year can apply provisionally.

Eligibility

Candidates who have completed

  • A recognized master’s degree or a Qualification declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body. A candidate must have obtained in the master degree at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.

or

  • A recognized 4 years bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale, wherever the grading system is followed.

or

  • An equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved or recognized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
    (The candidates, who have passed the qualifying examinations from any Foreign University will have to submit Equivalence Certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.).
  • Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions.
  • An applicant who has completed the Company Secretary (CS) Course from ‘The Institute of Company Secretaries of India’ (ICSI) or; Chartered Accountants (CA) Course from ‘The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’ (ICAI) or the Cost and Works Accountants (CWA) Course from “The Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India” (ICWAI) with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
  • An applicant who has completed PGDBM (2 Years), which is recognized equivalent to Master❜s Degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks by AIU is eligible.
  • Sponsored/Fellowship Awardees: UGC NET/GATE/GPAT /CSIR/INSPIRE/ AICTE fellowship awardees or those sponsored by Government (State/Union/UT)/ Public Enterprises/ CSIR/DRDO research labs or candidates who have been awarded fellowships directly by any funding agency for the purpose of pursuing Ph.D., can be registered any time during the session.

Relaxation in Marks: A relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) as per the decision of the University from time to time.

Fellowship/Scholarship

Financial assistance will be given to deserving candidates. The details of eligibility and other terms/conditions are given below:

Scheme of Research Scholarships (Full Time)

Eligibility

  • The candidates should have at least 60% marks in aggregate in Matriculation, Graduation and Master’s examination.
  • Candidates who have qualified UGC (NET/ JRF)/ CSIR (NET/ JRF) / GATE or GPAT or any other equivalent national exam conducted by the central government departments or their institutions will be preferred.

Desirable/Weightage

  • Candidates who have research publications and have teaching experience in a College/University will be given additional weightage in selection.

Scholarship Amount

  • The RIMT Scholarship carries an award of Rs. 15000/-pm. or as decided by university from time to time.
  • The award will be for a period of three years or till the submission of thesis, whichever is earlier.

Selection

Eligible candidates will be interviewed by a Committee comprising of the following members:

  • Vice Chancellor
  • Pro Vice Chancellor
  • Registrar
  • Dean Academic Affairs
  • Head of the concerned department

Terms and Conditions

  • A research scholar who is availing scholarship will work on full time basis.
  • Casual/Medical leave as per RIMT rules will be applicable.
  • A full-time scholar, who is recipient of RIMT scholarship will be required to engage in 8 to 10 hours of teaching per week.
  • Continuation of Scholarship will depend upon satisfactory six-monthly Progress Report.

Duration

  • Ph.D. Programme shall be for a minimum duration of three (3) years, including course work, and a maximum duration of six (6) years from the date of admission to the Ph.D. programme.
  • A maximum of an additional two (2) years can be given as per the Ph.D regulations of the university. The total period for completion of a Ph.D. programme should not exceed eight (8) years from the date of admission.
    Further female Ph.D. scholars and persons with physical disabilities (having more than 40% disability) may be allowed an additional relaxation of two (2) years; The total period for completion of a Ph.D. programme in such cases should not exceed ten (10) years from the date of admission in the Ph.D. programme.
  • Female Ph.D. Scholars may be provided Maternity Leave/Child Care Leave for up to 240 days during the entire duration of the Ph.D. programme.

Documents

The following documents will have to be submitted by the candidates with their Application at the time of admission.

A. Attested copies of the

  • Matriculation Pass Certificate or an equivalent Examination Certificate issued by the Board/University for date of birth.
  • Senior Secondary Pass Certificate (+2).
  • Detailed Mark Cards (DMCs) of examinations of all the parts of the Graduation Degree.
  • DMCs of Examinations of all the Parts of the Master’s Degree/Qualifying examination in the relevant discipline.
  • DMCs of Examinations of M.Phil or any other Research Degree, passed by the candidates, if any, also showing the Papers offered.
  • Certificate of qualifying the NET/SLET/NET from UGC/CSIR and GATE.
  • Character Certificate issued by the Institution last attended by the candidate.
  • SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled/EWS and other categories of Certificate(s).
  •  Copy of Aadhar Card.
  • Experience Certificate indicating the Position held, Period of Service, name of the Organization, etc., wherever applicable.
  • No Objection Certificate from the Employer, must be submitted at the time of joining, if not submitted along with the Application Form.
  • Passport/Student Visa in case of NRI/Foreign candidates.
  • For international students: The candidates, who have passed the qualifying examinations from any Foreign University will have to submit Equivalence Certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi and will be considered on fulfillment of the requirements as per relevant provisions of the Ordinance.

B. Two Passport Size Photographs, duly attested, one of which to be affixed on the Application Form.

C. Migration Certificate in case the last Examination has been passed by the candidate from a University, other than the RIMT university. If not readily available, it can be submitted within 15 days from the last date of payment admission dues.

D. Any other relevant document.

Note: The candidates will have to produce the original documents at the time of interview along with one set of self attested documents as mentioned at point no. (A).

Fee Structure

The candidates selected for admission to the Programme shall pay the admission and other fees as prescribed by the RIMT University from time to time as per details given below:

A. Semester Wise

Semester I: Admission Fee (20,000), Coursework Fee (20,000), Tuition Fee (35,000)

Semester II: Tuition Fee (35,000), Synopsis Seminar Fee (20000)

Semester III: Tuition Fee (35,000), Workshop Statistical (10,000)

Semester IV: Tuition Fee (35,000), Annual Seminar, Conference Fee (10,000)

Semester V: Tuition Fee (35,000), Annual Seminar, Conference Fee (10,000)

Semester VI: Tuition Fee (35,000)

B. Other Fee Payable
Pre-Thesis Evaluation 15,000
Thesis Evaluation Fee 20,000
Final ODC 20,000

C. Continuation Fee (after 6th Semester) Semester fee INR 35000/-per semester till the submission of the thesis.

D. Notes:

  • Fee against all components listed under (A) and (C) shall be payable at the beginning of each semester.
  • Fee against components listed at (B) shall be payable at each milestone.
  • Fees against components listed at (C) shall be payable if a scholar is not able to complete his/her research work in three years and continues.
  • At the end of sixth semester, a grace period of one month will be allowed to a research student to submit his/her thesis/dissertation complete in all respects without payment of any additional fee. If a student wants more time he/she will have to apply in writing for extension which may be allowed by V.C on payment of continuation fee.
  • Late payment fee as per administrative policy.
