National Seminar cum Workshop on Agri- Entrepreneurship
The National Seminar cum Workshop was organized by the School of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, RIMT University, Mandi Gobindgarh on 3rd May 2024. The main objective of the seminar was to discuss the different agri entrepreneurship; their opportunities and challenges.
The inaugural session was chained by Dr. Allah Rang, Managing Director, Biocarve, Patiala and emphasized the need of becoming service provider rather than seeking jobs. He explained a number of agri entrepreneurship which can be started with little economic support. He informed the house that he is providing jobs to more than 200 persons at his farm and exports seeds of flower to 8 -9 countries.
The guest of honour of this function was worthy Vice-Chancellor (Dr. Bhupinder Singh Brar) advised the students to adopt some agri entrepreneurship like Mushroom, Beeking, Vermicompost, Dairy farm etc. Dr. Anoop Badoni (Chairman, PLANTICA Foundation) highlighted that the Agri-entrepreneurship has the prospectus of social and economic development, for example, employment generation, poverty reduction, improvements in nutrition, health and overall food security in the national economy especially in rural areas. Entrepreneur Mr. Gurjinder Singh informed the students that after completing his Master in Agriculture, he started his own agri entrepreneur and is fetching more money than the person serving in different organizations. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. U.S.Tiwana, Dean, SAST.
Furthermore, in Technical session I, keynote lecture were presented by Dr. Poonam Sachdev (Principal Food Technologist, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana) and Mr. Himanshu Sharma, Chairman (Scholics Foundation).In Technical Session the major lead papers were presented by Dr. Supriya Majumder, Dr. Samanpreet Singh and Mr. Manthan Choudhary.
The best poster awards was conferred to Ms. Ruksha and Reetika and second best poster ward was given to Nikhil, Gurvinder Kaur, Sushant and Harmanpreet Singh. Mr. Manthan Choudhary was facilitated in the seminar for his best presentation.
At the end of the function, Dr. Gurvinder Kaur, Organizing Secretary of the National Seminar cum Workshop proposed the vote of thanks.
