Department of Optometry conducted a meaningful visit to a Deaf and Blind School in Patiala

The Department of Optometry, School of Allied Health Sciences, RIMT University, Mandi Gobindgarh (Punjab) conducted a meaningful visit to a Deaf and Blind School in Patiala, where optometry students and faculty experienced deeply emotional and inspiring moments while interacting with visually and hearing-impaired students. Beyond academics, the visit offered valuable learning on low vision aids, types of blindness as defined by the World Health Organisation, and rehabilitation practices, while also fostering empathy and social responsibility. As a collective gesture of care, students and faculty contributed a donation to support blind students in the name of the Optometry Department. This impactful outreach activity successfully marked the first academic event of the Even Semester 2026 by Optometry department, reflecting RIMT University’s commitment to compassionate learning and community engagement.
