School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, RIMT University Organise Workshop on the Ancient Art of Bonsai
The School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, RIMT University, successfully conducted one-day workshop titled “Nature in Miniature – Learn the Ancient Japanese Art of Bonsai” on 27th September, 2025.
The workshop was led by Dr. Jujhar Singh from Mata Gujri College, a distinguished expert in bonsai and ornamental plant cultivation. Dr. Singh shared his deep knowledge of the centuries-old Japanese art form, introducing participants to its history, philosophy, and techniques. His engaging session focused on the principles of shaping, pruning, and nurturing miniature trees, while also shedding light on the cultural and aesthetic significance of bonsai.
The workshop drew enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and nature enthusiasts. It offered hands-on training and encouraged attendees to explore bonsai as a hobby that fosters mindfulness, creativity, and a closer connection to nature.
An interactive session followed the demonstration, during which participants had the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, as Dr. Pallavi Ghosh, Head of the School, presented a memento to Dr. Singh in appreciation of his valuable insights. She also reaffirmed the School’s commitment to organising similar workshops that integrate art, culture, and sustainable practices.
