RIMT University Organizes National Conference on “Smart Solutions from Nature: Role of AI in Herbal Drug Discovery
The College of Pharmacy at RIMT University successfully organized a One-Day National Conference on the theme “Smart Solutions from Nature: Role of AI in Herbal Drug Discovery” in collaboration with Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital. The conference marked a significant academic initiative, bringing together the domains of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Ayurvedic sciences on a single platform—an innovative effort considered among the first of its kind in India.
The conference witnessed an overwhelming response, with participation from more than 650 delegates across the country. Over 200 oral and poster presentations were showcased, reflecting the growing research interest and advancements in pharmaceutical sciences, herbal drug innovation, and the integration of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
The inaugural session commenced with a welcome address by the Principal, College of Pharmacy, RIMT University, who emphasized the importance of integrating artificial intelligence with traditional herbal knowledge to accelerate drug discovery and innovation. B. S. Bhatia, Pro-Chancellor of RIMT University, congratulated the organizing team and appreciated the dedicated efforts of faculty and students in successfully conducting the conference.
The Chief Guest, Vaidya Kartar Singh Dhiman, Director General of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences under the Ministry of AYUSH, delivered the inaugural address. He highlighted the importance of evidence-based research and emphasized the role of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence in strengthening and globalizing Ayurvedic practices.
The conference featured three technical sessions conducted by eminent experts in the field. Suresh Kumar, Professor of Pharmacognosy at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research, Punjabi University, delivered an insightful session. Gopesh Mangal, Dean (PG) and Head of the Department of Panchakarma at the National Institute of Ayurveda, shared his expertise on Ayurvedic therapeutic practices. The final session featured an expert lecture by Showkat R. Mir from the School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Jamia Hamdard. Each session was effectively guided by distinguished chairpersons, ensuring meaningful academic discussions and knowledge exchange.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session, where Inderpal Kaur, Principal of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, participants, and sponsors for their valuable contributions.
Participants were recognized for their outstanding research contributions, and the event concluded with the National Anthem, marking the successful culmination of a highly enriching academic gathering that emphasized innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the future of herbal drug discovery.
