Formation of the Governing Body
- 1. The Governing Body of the University shall be constituted as per provisions made in RIMT University Act. It shall consist of the following persons, namely: -

- 2. The Governing Body shall meet at least twice in a calendar year.
- 3.The quorum for meeting of the Governing Body shall be Chairperson and any other five members. The Registrar, being non-voting member cannot be part of the quorum.
- 4. The Chairperson can exercise an additional vote in case of tie during voting in a case.
- 5. The tenure of nominated members of the Governing Body shall be 3 years. No member shall be nominated for two consecutive terms.
- 6. A notice for the meeting of the Governing Body shall be given so as to reach the Committee members at least fifteen days in advance of the meeting and the agenda for the meeting shall be sent to members at least seven days in advance of the meeting.
- 7. The Governing Body shall exercise such powers and perform such functions as prescribed below:
- 7.1. The Governing Body shall be the supreme body of the University. It shall perform the following functions, namely:-
- 7.1.1. To provide general superintendence and to give directions for controlling the functioning of the University in accordance with the statutes, ordinances and the regulations.
- 7.1.2. To review the decision of other authorities of the University in case these are not in conformity with the provisions of the statutes, the ordinances and the regulations.
- 7.1.3. To approve the budget and annual report of the University.
- 7.1.4. To lay down the extensive policies to be followed by the University.
- 7.1.5. To exercise such other powers, as may be prescribed by the statues.
- 7.2. Apart from above powers vested in the Governing Body as per RIMT University Act, the Governing Body of the University shall have the following powers and functions:
- 7.2.1. To make, review and approve, from time to time, the broad policies, plans and procedures and suggest measures for the improvement and development of the University.
- 7.2.2. To make recommendations on any matter referred to it by the Chancellor.
- 7.2.3. To make recommendation to the Chancellor for the creation of new posts of officers, teachers and staff of the University.
- 7.2.4. To consider and approve the recommendations made by the Board of Management, Academic Council and any other authority of the University.
- 7.2.5. The Governing Body may, from time to time, make statutes or may amend or repeal the same.
- 7.3. The Governing Body shall perform such other functions for smooth functioning of the University, as and when required by the University.
