75th Independence Day Celebrated at RIMT University
75th Independence Day was celebrated at RIMT University by NSS volunteers. The students marched past the campus to commemorate “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” which celebrates the 75 years of the freedom of India. Different Departments came up with different competitions like face painting, poem recitation, poster-making competitions, etc. which were held under the University premises.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Dr. Vijay Agarwal, Vice Chancellor of the university said that the students should never forget about the struggles of our soldiers and the unsung heroes who gave up their lives for our freedom. He also congratulated everyone on Independence Day and motivated the students to take part in the activities which promote harmony and strength of our nation.
Dr. M.S. Bindra, Director Academics, exhorted the students to follow the leads of the great freedom fighters and also urged them to take a pledge towards a clean India, poverty-free and corruption-free India to commemorate the sovereignty of India.
Dr. Jyoti Angrish, coordinator of NSS also stressed that “We have paid a huge price for our freedom in terms of sacrifices made by our freedom fighters.” Recognizing the value of this freedom, we must fulfill our duty to the country. He said the youth was the power of this nation.
Dr SPS Salooja, Dean RIMT school of Legal studies, Dr Nitin Thapar, Dean Student Welfare, Ms Monika, Head School of Art and Design, Ms. Anjali verma, Head, School of Mass Communication and Media Technology graced the occasion with their presence and motivated the students to ignite the light of patriotism in the society.
Several prizes were given to the participants, who won in different competitions.
