Department of Student Welfare

Student Welfare activities of RIMT University focus on the overall development of students. The University conducts several activities through various clubs & cells which enable the students to nourish their personalities and career. The university forms a Student Council every year which organizes all the extra-curricular activities for each academic year. Student welfare is an important component in the overall management of student affairs. To facilitate efficient provision of welfare services, the department has several sections such as Guidance and Counseling, Hostel and Accommodation, Youth Festival, Organizing University Events, Catering, Sports and Games, Safety and Health Section. For the smooth functioning of the welfare activities, a dedicated Student Welfare Officer is appointed for each School/Department under the supervision of the Dean Student Welfare.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

RIMT University is starting the Student NSS volunteer program with a view to inculcating the idea of ​​social welfare among the students and rendering service to society without any bias.NSS Volunteers work to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life with dignity. The main purpose of establishing the NSS is to spread legal literacy among the masses in the villages and cities.

The main objectives of the National Service Scheme (NSS) are:

  • To understand the community in which they work
  • To understand themselves in relation to their community
  • Identifying the needs and problems of the community and involving them in problem-solving
  • To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  •  To utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
  • To develop the competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities
  • To gain skills in mobilizing community participation
  • To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
  • To develop the capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
  • To practice national integration and social harmony.

Electoral Literacy Club (ELC)

The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) at RIMT University was constituted on March 4, 2021. ELC is the initiative under systematic voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).

ELC Is Mainly focused on voter’s awareness information sharing and motivating them to cast their vote. The club will work under the guidance of the Election Commission of India.

2. Objectives  Of ELC

The Objectives Of ELC are as below:

  • Strengthening the Culture of Electoral Participation among Young.
  • To educate students, faculty, and Staff about the voter registration procedure.
  • To Develop a Culture of Electoral Participation & Maximize the Ethical Voting.

  • Framing Further Guidelines.
  • Supervising the Conduct of Activity.
  • Facilitating the enrollment of not registered voters.
  • To Help the target audience understand the value of their vote and exercise their suffrage right in a confident, comfortable, and ethical manner.

Red Ribbon Club

The club organizes activities that offer opportunities to interact with peers and learn new skills. The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is an international symbol of HIV/AIDS awareness. The club aims to provide a platform for youth to contribute towards the control and prevention of HIV/ AIDS as well as promote voluntary blood donation among youth. The Red Ribbon Club operates under the guidelines of the Directorate of Youth Services, Fatehgarh Sahib, and the Government of Punjab.

The main objectives of the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) are:

  • To spread awareness among the youth, especially the students, about the dreaded disease like HIV/AIDS.
  • To reduce new occurrences of HIV infection among youth by raising their risk perception through awareness of HIV prevention methods.
  • To be aware and counsel the students regarding their health in terms of various diseases.
  • To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators and change agents by developing their skills in Leadership, negotiation, and team building.
  • To create sentience about drug abuse and its harmful effects.

Legal Aid Clinic / Centre

A legal aid clinic is a place where law students provide free legal services to people who cannot afford a lawyer. Legal aid clinics can help with various legal issues such as family law, consumer law, criminal law, etc. Legal aid clinics also aim to spread legal awareness and education among the public.

There are many legal aid clinics in different universities across the world. The Legal Aid Centre of RIMT-School of Legal Studies of RIMT University was inaugurated on 16th August 2017 by the Hon’ble Sh. Prashant Verma, PCS, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. The primary purpose of this Centre is to spread legal awareness and to provide free legal advice. Clinics are usually directed by clinical professors. Legal clinics typically do pro bono work in a particular area, providing free legal services to clients.

Aim:

To spread legal awareness among students and people at large. we endeavour to achieve the target by organising legal literacy camps, Seminars, Legal Counselling, Public Speaking, liaisoning with Legal Services Authorities and through various other communicable mediums.

Work: 

Legal Aid Centre has conducted various camps in several cities and villages of Punjab. These camps include activities like legal lectures, free legal advice, door-to-door services, awareness about rights, free counselling etc. 

These camps are usually focused on the topics such as child abuse, constitutional rights, procedural laws, domestic violence, harassment of women, consumer rights, right to education, cyber laws, Right to information, matrimonial reliefs, and the like. The topics are usually chosen as per the locality of the audience, the environment, and the socio-economic background of the people living in the places where camps are organized. However, the main focus is on the poor, illiterate and slum. The people are asked to raise their queries and then the same are answered accordingly in the local language.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)
