MA (History) is a postgraduate History programme, which includes a comprehensive and thorough study of specialisation in history of some certain time periods of particular cultures. The programme also covers the study of major historical events that took place both in India as well as across the world. Students are provided research skills and methods, such as research, writing and presentation skills and palaeography and two additional tailored research skills courses to meet their specific research training needs. They follow two specialist optional programmes and linked historiographical modules to provide the intellectual, conceptual and historiographical framework for their research.
Passed Graduation in respective or allied subjects with 50% aggregate marks.

MA. (History) degree serves as a basis for further higher studies and research in this field such as Ph.D. and M Phil Degree in History. On completion of this degree, students can apply for the NET or JRF exam; the success in these exams makes teaching or research as good option. Employment areas are archaeology, historical fiction, archives, historical parks, journalism, museums, publishing, re-enacting, public relations, restoration, survey and tourism industry. Typical job profiles are historians, archivists – court houses, documentation specialists, librarians, managers – national parks & historic sites, library systems analysts, research assistants, teachers & lecturers and records managers.
