RIMT University organized IPR Awareness Session for Faculty Members
A session on “IPR Awareness” for faculty members was organized by the Department of Research Innovation & Incubation (DRI), Doctoral Research Centre, and IQAC, under the presidentship of Dr. B.S. Bhatia (Pro Vice-Chancellor), RIMT University, Punjab. The event was convened by R.P. Singh Associate Director – DRI, coordinated by Dr. Jasmeen Gill (Professor & Head – CSE), and supported by Dr. Satish Saini, Director – IQAC where more than 50 faculty members participated. The event began with the inaugural address by Dr. B.S. Bhatia (PVC RIMT University).
Ms. Pooja Kumar – Founder & CEO of Innove Intellects as an expert speaker was invited to deliberate on the event. Ms. Kumar is a Registered Patent Advisor, Attorney, and Start-up facilitator of the Government of India. She briefed about the concept of IPR and its different types such as copyrights, patents, trademark, Geographical Indication, Industrial Designs and International Patents etc. Also, she deliberated on the intellectual property law so to protect the owner’s rights in the intellectual property; which includes legal term describing rights given to the actual inventors or innovators.
Ms. Kumar explained the procedures involved in the patent filing and showed the documents given by the patent office regarding the filling of patent. The faculty members were mushroomed-up to develop innovative products and file patent to protect the rights of the owner. The session was concluded with one to one interaction to answer queries and followed by group photograph.
