COVID-19 is seen as a threat to the democracy of the world. Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) characterised COVID-19 as a pandemic. The global death toll due to COVID-19 has crossed the 5,300 mark and rapidly it has transitioned across different geographies of the world. The nationwide lockdown has been imposed in the country under Section 10 of the National Disaster Management Act. If we look around us, the Government have armed up with extraordinary powers to deal with the pandemic. Number of petitions has been filed before the Supreme Court with respect to violations of rights arising out of the nation-wide lockdown. Courts have played a seminal role in bringing social change all over the world during this pandemic. Efforts of the government and the courts together will bring the necessary changes to deal with the pandemic like COVID-19.
