Educational Visit to Surajkund Crafts Mela
On the 11th of February 2023, RIMT University – School of Art and Design and School of Mass Communication and Media Technology organized a visit to Surajkund Crafts Mela, a famous tourist attraction near Delhi. The visit’s main objective was to provide the students with exposure to the rich cultural heritage of India and to inspire them with traditional art and crafts.
The main attraction of Surajkund Crafts Mela is the annual handicrafts fair. The fair showcased various traditional crafts, including pottery, weaving, embroidery, and painting.
The department’s faculty guided students through the fair, explaining the intricate details of the different art forms. Students were also able to interact with the artisans and learn about their techniques and the challenges they faced in preserving their art form in the modern world.
Students were particularly fascinated by the pottery section, where They saw how the artisans used the potter’s wheel to create beautiful and intricate designs. The embroidery section was also impressive, and they saw how the artisans used different stitches to create delicate patterns.
The visit to Surajkund was an enriching experience for students. They were able to witness the beauty of traditional Indian art forms and the passion of the artisans who strive to preserve them. The trip was a perfect blend of education and entertainment and helped students appreciate our rich cultural heritage.
