Five-Day Faculty Development Programme organized by RIMT University
RIMT University orchestrated a highly successful and enriching five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP). The programme, themed “Teaching Skills, Research, and Innovation,” brought together esteemed experts, dedicated educators, and passionate researchers to enhance teaching skills, promote research, and cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit among faculty members.
The FDP comprised six technical sessions, where experts shared profound knowledge and insights. The event commenced with Dr. Neelam Grewal’s (the former Vice-Chancellor of Guru Kashi University Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda, and a former member of the Punjab Public Service Commission) invigorating talk on “Skill Sets for Teaching and Academic Leadership,” which set the tone for the event by highlighting essential skills for effective teaching and leadership. The second day brought forth an enlightening session by Dr. Mamta Roy, the esteemed principal of the School of Education at RIMT University. Dr. Roy’s enlightening session, “Promoting Teacher Excellence,” explored Carol Dweck’s mindset theory and strategies for nurturing teaching skills and leadership.
Further, Dr. Rahul Taneja, Scientist, Department of Science & Technology, Govt of Haryana, captivated the audience on the third day with an expert talk on “An Overview of Intellectual Property Rights” and shed light on copyright, trademarks, industrial designs, and patent applications, highlighting the significance of safeguarding intellectual creations in the contemporary research landscape. The fourth day commenced with an enlightening expert talk by Dr. G. B. Jena, a renowned professor at NIPER Mohali. Dr. G. B. Jena’s talk on “Grant Proposal Writing” provided valuable guidance on crafting compelling proposals and securing research funding. In the second session of the day, Dr. J. Mishra, a distinguished professor and the Dean of Academic Affairs at RIMT University, shared practical techniques for “Effective Manuscript Writing,” enhancing manuscript preparation and submission. The fifth and final day of the FDP witnessed an enlightening address by Dr. Bijay Kumar Sahu, the distinguished scientist and HoD-Technology Innovation & Intellectual Property Facilitation, NRDC, Govt. of India. Dr. Sahu’s talk centered on startups and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the key traits of successful businesses and the importance of market research and concept validation. Participants were also informed about various government initiatives and programmes supporting startups.
Throughout the FDP, dedicated educators embraced knowledge and continuous learning, inspired by interactive sessions with experts. The programme culminated in a celebratory valedictory ceremony, attended by esteemed Registrar Er. Rakesh Mohan, university officials, and faculty members, fostering valuable connections among educators passionate about innovation. RIMT University’s commitment to research, innovation, and teaching excellence was evident through this transformative initiative. The FDP’s impact will empower faculty members to prepare students for an ever-changing world of work, creating a brighter future for generations to come.
