About School
Libraries are the oldest repositories of knowledge and wisdom. The history of library science as an academic discipline and vocational practice goes back to almost 2 millennia. No matter what is your scholarly pursuit you seek out the help of a library on a regular basis. Even though every possible bit of information exists at your fingertips these days (mobile phones and computers), libraries remain one of the most important sources of knowledge and insight.
At RIMT we offer multiple courses in library and information science. Depending on how deep you want to go you can do a diploma, get a bachelor’s degree or go for a master’s degree in library and information science. The field of library management has advanced to a great extent with the introduction of technology and the augmentation of the books available on every topic.
The importance of knowledge management is gauged when the right bit of information is to be retrieved in minimum possible time. During the course you learn how to curate books, magazines and publications (both printed and digital) for easier and timely access, for different groups and steady streams. You will also learn how to build and manage your own information retrieval systems using various information design principles. You will study about various database systems. The study will also cover narrow and broad topics of ethical and philosophical issues related to storing information and managing access to privacy.
