At RIMT the learning approach is a mix of the traditional and new methods. On one hand familiarizing students with the knowledge and theories that are essential to an understanding of the discipline and on the other hand, giving them a chance wherever possible to develop practical uses for the expertise they acquire. From this starting point, students are increasingly designing their own studies, by selecting options and undertaking research-based activities that they can devise by themselves, with the support from academic staff. Extracurricular activities, seminars, internships and work experience are open to students.

The Masters course gives a good base for higher degree programs in respective subjects such as M.Phil. and Ph.D. for research work. Students can find work in the Government Statistical Service, the National Health Service, local councils, the pharmaceutical industry, insurance companies, market research and marketing companies, banks, accountancy firms, universities, colleges and schools. They can become teachers in schools and can open their own coaching centers related to their academic subjects. Typical job openings include Teachers or Professors, Quantitative Risk Analysts, Mathematical Analysts, Equity Quantitative Analysts, Directors - Statistical Programming, Interest Rate Trading Strategists, Directors - Statistical Programming, Quantitative Developers, Managing Editors - Computer Science and Mathematics, Assistant/Associate Managers – Mathematics, Mathematics Specialists, Assessment Developers – Mathematics and Mathematics Subject Matter Experts.
