Agriculture plays a crucial role in the Indian economy. Almost 60 percent of the Indian workforce is involved in agriculture, but that has not resulted in substantial growth of the sector. In fact, its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has dwindled to less than 25 percent. It is time that students explore this largely unknown arena.

Eligibility and admission

Diploma in Agriculture /Horticulture/ Fisheries with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

Curriculum highlights

The curriculum varies, from learning about agricultural meteorology, soil science, production and protection of crops, plant breeding, post-harvest technology and agriculture economics as well as statistics with a balanced summation of theory and practical. The last year of the course will comprise hands-on training, which helps in tying up all you have learned in the first three years, to make you job-ready.

The programme is of 3 years, spread across 8 semesters. During each semester, students will face different sets of theoretical subjects as well as practical workshops along with laboratory sessions.

The demand for trained professionals in the field of agriculture is high in Central/State governments, seed/pesticide/fertilizer companies, banks etc. After completing B. Sc.
