FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ON DATA ANALYSIS THROUGH SPSSMANDI GOBINDGARH, 08 January, 2018
RIMT University places great emphasis on continuous academic development and encourages research in different disciplines. It organizes workshops and training programmes to enhance the capability and skills of faculty and students. It is in this direction that a one week Faculty Development Programme on Data Analysis through SPSS was organized in January 2018. (2nd Jan to 8th Jan 2018). A total of 36 Faculty members and Research Scholars participated in the programme. Apart from RIMT University, the participants belong to University Department and college affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh, Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala, Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh and Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Fatehgarh Sahib.
Senior Faculty Members from RIMT University, Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjabi University, Patiala and Punjab University Chandigarh were resource persons for the programme.
The main objective of the programme was to build analytical skills of the researchers especially in the area of data analysis with the help of various statistical techniques. The Software Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used as the major instructional tool.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. A.S.Chawla, Vice Chancellor of RIMT University on 2nd January 2018. In order to give hands on experience to the participants, The FDP was conducted in one of the University labs. The programme concluded on 8th Jan 2018. The Certificates of the participants were awarded to the participants in valedictory session.
In the feedback session, the participants provided their views and suggestions about the utility of the programme. One of the important feedbacks by the participant was that the programme needs to be extended by another one week in order to cover advanced technologies of analysis covering Econometrics, Time Series Analysis etc. The participants suggested that the next programme should be conducted in June 2018 when they would be free from their teaching assignments. The role and contribution of Prof. (Dr.) G.S.Ghotra, programme Coordinator and Mrs. Santosh Bali, Coordinator Research, RIMT was specially appreciated for successfully coordinating and conducting the programme.
