RIMT University has initiated research on one of the most important battle of the world “Battle of Saragarhi”.This was decided in the Research Promotion Committee of the University. Giving details about the subject Dr A.S.Chawla ,Vice Chancellor RIMT University mentioned that the Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amrinder Singh has already written a book entitled “Saragarhi and Defence of the Samana Forts”. Another project was undertaken by Mr Gurinder Pal Singh Josan of USA in 1997.

The present work will be an extension of the work already done and will go deep into documenting the versions of descendants of the Saragarhi Martyrs. Briefing on the occasion Mr. G P S Josan mentioned that 19 out of 21 families/descendants of Saragarhi Martyr have already been identified and another two, who are expected to be in Pakistan, will also be located soon.Documenting the versions of descendants will provide deep insight into the battle that so far has not attracted due attention of Historians.
