Course Overview

PG Diploma in Journalism is a post graduate diploma level programme in Hindi/Punjabi/English. Mass Communication is the study of mass media including all types of medium used to convey information to the audience. The aim of this course is to teach honest and progressive journalism to the students and to remove the veil of darkness and ignorance from the society. Course is helpful to provide intensive theoretical and practical knowledge in various media professions ranging from the management of media organisation to research and an integrated perspective of media functioning along with a fair amount of exposure to technical know-how to hone the student's analytical skills.

The one year programme is divided into two semesters.

After the programme, students are able to describe the concept of news and apply it in different forms of journalistic writing; develop new story ideas and sharpen the news sense to identify the news and develop new style of news writing and its presentation. Graduates of Mass Communication programmes work in a variety of fields in news media and publishing, public relations and research institutes. After this programme, they can go for further research studies. Employment areas are reporting, editing, advertising, public relations, corporate communications, media management, television and film production. After completion, students can become journalists and free lance writers.
