The social sciences are a very broad area encompassing subjects as diverse as anthropology, sociology and urban studies. Anything that involves the study of human beings and their social behavior is part of this field. As part of an MA program in social sciences, you will have the opportunity to specialize in global analysis, contemporary theories of social science, psychology or women’s studies, to name just a few options. The MA program normally concludes with an in-depth thesis on an individually chosen topic of interest.
The duration of the programme is two years. Generally, students need to study subjects as compulsory and electives across four semesters.
Arts students have the option to choose to major and minor in English, French, any other linguistics course, psychology, sociology, philosophy, history, religious studies and many more subject areas. For example the ability to analyse tasks, set priorities, and communicate goals to others. Employment areas are advertising, broadcasting, business process outsourcing units, civil services, community service, film editing and direction, graphics and printing industry, international relations, journalism and mass communication, law, library and information science, policing, professional writing, public administration, public planning, religious studies and social work.
