Course Overview

The 3-year degree programme in B.Sc Hons Botany was started with a vision to impart in-depth knowledge of Botany and train students in developing expertise in Plant Science. This programme is mainly designed keeping the recent career opportunities in the diverse fields of botanical sciences. A conscious effort has been made so that curriculum helps the students specifically groomed for R&D / academic requirement. Multidisciplinary approach and flexibility is the essence of the course which is achieved by offering various electives.

The degree programme is modular. This 3 years full time course is divided in 6 semesters. The methods of assessment vary widely to suit the nature of the course unit and each level of study.

Due to renewed interest in herbal drugs and plant based products active compound, there is a great demand for trained Botanist. They can be employed at a various institution in India and abroad. They are required in various ministries and research institutes for correct recognition and conservation of national wealth. In this era of IPR, they are an invaluable human resource with great career opportunities in India as well as abroad.
