Course Overview

Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) is a full time graduate programme. It is general in the sense that it is not subject specific and one can choose a number of combinations of subjects, apart from one-two compulsory subjects. The degree provides the students with a wide range of managerial skills and competence in a particular area of Commerce. It equips students with the knowledge of accounting principles, export and import laws, economic policies and other aspects that impacts trade and business.

Eligibility and admission

(a) 40% marks in the aggregate in case of students who have passed 10+2 Commerce group.

OR

(b) 45% marks in the aggregate in case of student who have passed 10+2 in Humanities group with at least two out of Commerce/ Accounts/Math/ Economics/Management papers.

OR

(c) 50% marks in the aggregate in case of students who have passed 10+2 but not covered under (a) and (b) above;

OR

(d) Students who opt for any one of the following Vocational subjects, in B.Com. Professional Part I should have passed with at least 50% marks, 10+2 examination from Punjab School Education Board or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto:

The degree programme lasts 3 years. Students seeking the Commerce Degree need to study 5-7 subjects. They can opt for various combinations depending upon the availability of choices in various Institutes.

Candidates who have completed B.Com have a high employment rate as there is no business which does not require a Manager or a Commerce Specialist to manage the financial aspects of their respective businesses. All the companies registered under the Companies Act, are required to get their accounts audited only by practicing Chartered Accountants because of which accountants never run out of job.
